Fun fact-I’m originally from England, so called “Yank” of the family, as I seemingly lost my accent somewhere over the Atlantic.  

Anyhoo, I spent my formative years in England and immigrated with my father and sister in 1975. Initially, we lived in New Jersey, but in 1980, I went back to England for school and lived with my grandparents. Boy, England in the 80s sure was fun!  Then in 1985, when I finished school, I came back to the US, this time to Charleston, and the College of Charleston-I’ve been here ever since. 

Fast forward thirty-plus years, totally burned out, tired of the daily grind and someone else deciding my income and schedule, while working for the weekends. I needed to get out of the corporate world and do my thing!  I needed more flexibility and time. I wanted to decide how to go about my day. I am sure you do too! 

So when the world stopped with COVID, I got busy forging the dream. But my timing was off. In the fall of 2020, my feet and legs started tingling and feeling numb.  I could not stand for more than a minute or walk more than a block and was subsequently declared disabled in the summer of 2021.  Long story short, I had no spinal canal at L4 and L5 so my nerves were being crushed.  I needed surgery ASAP.  Well, that took time, so for 18 months I was stagnating and continued to work on my dreams.  Finally, in December 2022 I had my first surgery, followed by two more in 2023.  And now I can walk and even dance!  I won’t be doing cartwheels anytime soon, but with my new lease on life, I’m finally ready to get this show on the road and help women entrepreneurs like you!
